We’ve finally reached that point of the year when the summer vacation countdown is on, and you know what that means: basket bags, a perfectly curated travel wardrobe, and of course, swimwear.

Whether or not you’ll be sunbathing on the French Riviera (or possibly just pretending to at the Paris Plages), you can still dress the part.

In this guide, I’ve rounded up 11 of the best French swimwear brands that are worth knowing, from emerging names with the trendiest designs to luxury labels that do minimalism to a T.

These are the ones I personally shop for my warm-weather wardrobe in France. Many of my French girlfriends (who I interviewed as part of my research) swear by them too, so you know they’re tried and tested.

Keep scrolling on to discover your next French swimsuit for the season.

1. Eres

For more than 50 years, Eres has been accompanying women to the beach and beyond with swimwear and lingerie collections rooted in French savoir-faire. Created in the brand’s Parisian studio, each piece comes with a high price tag, but the impeccable cuts and materials make them truly timeless additions to any wardrobe.

The maison’s signature is its Peau Douce (“soft skin”) fabric that provides soft support and full coverage. Having tried on several styles myself (even if I haven’t made the splurge yet), I can tell you that each swimsuit feels like wearing nothing at all (in the best way possible).

A great place to start is the “Les Essentiels” line that features some of Eres’s most classic designs in a range of fresh colors.

2. Yasmine Eslami

Yasmine Eslami launched her eponymous label in 2010 after graduating from the renowned Paris fashion school Studio Bercot and refining her eye while working alongside Vivienne Westwood in London.

Sensual and stylish, her swimwear line is less sheer than her iconic undergarments, but comes in just as many gorgeous colors and 70s-inspired shapes. After taking a look at her latest collection, I myself bookmarked several pieces for my own trip to the South of France this summer!

Eslami is also a longtime friend of French it-girl Jeanne Damas, and the two have collaborated on several projects over the years, including collections for Damas’s own French fashion brand, Rouje.

3. Leslie Amon

Since 2017, Leslie Amon has been creating some of the chicest swimwear in Paris. The Swiss-Egyptian designer built her label around pieces that transition effortlessly from plage to party.

Her collections draw inspiration from the colors, light, and contrasts between land and sea, which explains the rich palettes and luminous textures that define each drop.

What truly sets the brand apart is its craftsmanship. The label develops its own customized patterns, knitted and woven into exclusive four-way stretch jacquard fabrics, all custom-made in France. Production stays intentionally limited, so once a fabric is gone, it’s gone forever!

If I were jetting off to somewhere tropical this summer, this is the French swimwear brand I’d be packing without a second thought.

4. Ysé Paris

A good rule of thumb when shopping for swimwear is to peruse the best lingerie brands too! Many of them make just as stunning swimsuits, including the Parisian label Ysé.

Founded in 2022, the brand’s collections include bikinis and one-pieces in playful patterns like vintage vichy and cutesy florals. First imagined for smaller busts, Ysé Paris now extends up to a size 46 and an E cup, so almost anyone can find a flattering fit.

Browse the rest of their ready-to-wear line, and you can easily put together a cohesive summer capsule in one shopping cart! Best of all, their prices are refreshingly accessible, with most swimsuits around $150.

5. Etam

Etam is a French girl favorite for affordable lingerie, pajamas, and swimwear (bien sûr). Since its founding in 1916, the brand’s motto has been “reinventing lingerie for women”—that commitment to French savoir-faire naturally extending into Etam’s line of swimsuits and beachwear.

Today, the range spans minimalist bikinis to trend-forward one-pieces, in an array of neutral and vibrant shades that will last you many beach seasons—all without costing you a fortune.

Although my swimwear collection is quite modest, I’ll say that Etam is one of my go-to French bikini brands. All of their sets are just $69, a price you really can’t beat.

6. Pain de Sucre

If you’re after swimwear that’s authentically French, look no further than the sun-soaked shores of the South of France. Born in 1985 in Marseille, Pain de Sucre has spent four decades perfecting l’art de vivre à la plage (the art of living on the beach).

Its founders, inspired by a family tradition of tailor artisans along the city’s legendary Canebière, were among the first to treat the swimsuit as a true fashion accessory, adorning early designs with buttons, buckles, and cabochon gems sourced from their elders’ drawers.

That couture sensibility lives on in every collection: colorful, exclusive prints, sculptural one- and two-piece silhouettes, and a full wardrobe of matching beachwear (caftans, sarongs, tunics) all meticulously crafted in France.

After 40 years, Pain de Sucre remains one of the most authoritative and effortlessly wearable names in French swimwear.

7. Nénés Paris

Sustainable swimwear has never looked so chic. Founded in 2018 by Margot Dargegen, Nénés Paris is the eco-conscious answer to looking effortlessly good without compromising your values.

The brand’s inspirations are Mediterranean, bohemian and retro, with feminine one pieces and classic bikinis in earthy neutrals and Southern-inspired prints that evoke sunny days by the sea.

Produced in small quantities in Portugal and France using recycled or natural organic materials, it sits firmly at the opposite end of fast fashion: less, but infinitely better. And scrolling through their latest ready-to-wear collection, I was delighted to find no polyester in sight.

With a generous range of cuts spanning lingerie, swimwear, dresses, and knitwear, you have a plethora of options to design a versatile and sustainable wardrobe.

8. Anja Paris

Founded by the female duo Alexandra and Lucie, Anja Paris is a “celebration of happiness and escape”, the kind of brand that makes you want to book a flight somewhere warm the moment you start swiping through its newest arrivals.

If you love the quiet minimalism of Eres, Anja offers a similar sensibility (but for a whole lot less). Swimsuits come in essential colors and elegant prints, in one-piece and two-piece silhouettes, with sublime necklines and meticulous details designed to enhance every figure.

Quality is equally central to the Anja ethos: pieces are crafted from top materials built to retain their lustre and comfort long after many adventures under the sun.

9. LIVY

Paris, New York, Los Angeles: those are the three states of mind that embody the French lingerie and swimwear brand, LIVY.

The label brings a rare cosmopolitan energy to French swimwear: refined enough for the Riviera, bold enough for anywhere else. Expect bandeau and triangle tops with intricate gold jewelry details and delicate lacing, satin microfiber fabrics that adapt to every body shape, and silhouettes that range from clean-lined minimalism to full-blown glamour.

The color palette is equally considered. Timeless blacks and whites sit alongside geometric prints and 60s-inspired patterns, ensuring there’s a LIVY piece for every temperament and every destination.

10. Sézane

French fashion brand Sézane needs little introduction, but if you haven’t yet explored its swimwear line, consider this your sign.

Launched in 2013 by Morgane Sélazory, the label has since built a devoted global following on the strength of its effortlessly Parisian aesthetic: a perfect balance of trendier pieces and timeless classics.

Its swimwear arrives exactly as you’d hope with flattering silhouettes, vintage-inspired details, and pretty prints that prove perfect for your next beach outing. Not to mention, all at refreshingly accessible price points.

If you’re new to the brand entirely, then don’t miss my roundup of the 10 best Sézane pieces you’ll absolutely want to know about.

11. Noo Paris

Bold, free, and unapologetically modern, Noo Paris is the French swimwear brand with something to say.

Rooted in Marseille, where its creative studio brings each collection to life from drawing board to prototype, Noo was built around a single, powerful idea: empowering women to define what is sexy for themselves. The result is affordable, flattering swimwear made for real women who want to feel confident and stylish.

Sustainability is woven into every decision—pieces are produced transparently and responsibly across the Mediterranean, using traceable materials and responsible workshops.
