Last weekend I visited Switzerland for the time. My boyfriend used to work there in a small town near Lugano. It was so special to see where he had lived and apprenticed as an architect. It was also a much needed getaway after making it through almost 2 months of my internship. Spending an afternoon at the spa, sleeping in past 10 a.m. and not really having a set itinerary made for a very relaxing trip. We also did a lot of walking (as is usual when you’re traveling), but strolling through quaint stone villages and exploring old castles didn’t leave me quite as tired (like I am when I’m visiting large cities).
For this weekend trip, I packed more than I typically would. Six outfits for three days might seem unnecessary, but when you’re hiking in the morning, swimming in the afternoon, then going out at night, it’s essential to have outfits for different activities. I opted for neutral-colored, versatile pieces in order to keep my weekend wardrobe to a minimum. I also chose a lot of classic items that could be easily mixed-and-matched. Along with the clothing and accessories shown above, I also brought my favorite gold jewelry (a dainty bracelet, a pair of hoop earrings, a set of small rings, and a pendant necklace). Adding jewelry can instantly upgrade your outfit, especially when it features a lot of neutral, basic pieces. This wardrobe suited me well for my weekend in Switzerland.
